The Scout Terms & Conditions
Last updated: May 2026
By downloading, accessing, or using The Scout (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Eligibility and accounts
- You must provide accurate registration and profile information and keep it reasonably up to date.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for maintaining the security of your device and credentials.
- The Service may distinguish account types (for example talent vs club) to unlock different features (such as scouting and contact tools for eligible club accounts).
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, our policies, or applicable law.
Permitted use
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in line with its intended football discovery and community use.
- Do not upload or share content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually exploitative of minors, graphically violent outside reasonable sports context, deceptive, or infringing of others’ rights.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, scrape, overload, or reverse engineer the Service beyond what applicable law expressly allows.
- Video uploads are subject to product limits (including maximum duration enforced in the app, currently up to 30 seconds per clip as implemented).
User content and license
- You retain ownership of content you create and upload. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership to The Scout.
- You grant The Scout a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, adapt (for example transcoding or cropping for display), publicly display, and distribute your content to operate, promote, and improve the Service (including in feeds, profiles, rankings, notifications, share links, and related in-app experiences).
- You grant The Scout the same license to use your content (including video clips, profile photo, and username) in promotional and editorial materials outside the app, including on The Scout’s official social media accounts (for example Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok). Examples include posts such as “Player of the Week,” “Best Goal,” “Best Assist,” “Best Goalkeeper,” highlights reels, and similar football features that showcase talent on the platform.
- Where practical, we will credit your username (or display name shown in the app) when we feature your content on those channels.
- You may request that we stop using or remove a specific feature of your content from our promotional channels by emailing thescout.eg@outlook.com with the subject line “Content removal request” and enough detail for us to identify the post (for example a link or screenshot). We will make reasonable efforts to comply; removal from the Service itself may be subject to separate in-app or technical limits.
- You represent that you have all rights necessary to upload and share your content, that it does not violate any third party’s rights, and that you have permission from anyone identifiable in your videos (where applicable).
Club scouting and contact
Where enabled, clubs may use in-app tools to scout players and request contact information through server-mediated flows. You agree that contact details you place in your profile may be disclosed to authorized club callers consistent with the Privacy Policy and product rules.
The Scout does not guarantee employment, trials, or responses from any user.
Separate from in-app scouting tools, we may describe or celebrate scouting outcomes in our marketing as described in Scouting success stories and promotional use below.
Scouting success stories and promotional use
- The Scout may celebrate and promote scouting outcomes connected to the platform. For example, if a player was scouted through the Service and subsequently joins, signs with, or moves to a club, we may publish success stories on our official social media, website, or other marketing (for example: “[Username] was scouted through The Scout and joined [Club name]”).
- Such posts may include your username, profile information you have made public in the app, video clips you uploaded, and the club name involved, where accurate and appropriate.
- We will seek to present these stories factually and will credit your username where practical. If you prefer not to be featured in scouting success posts, you may opt out by emailing thescout.eg@outlook.com with the subject line “Scouting feature opt-out” (see also the Privacy Policy).
- The Scout does not guarantee trials, contracts, transfers, or employment. Any club relationship is solely between the player and the club. We feature stories to illustrate how the platform is used, not as an endorsement of any particular outcome.
Safety, moderation, and blocking
- The Service includes reporting and blocking features. We may remove content, disable features, or terminate accounts to address abuse or legal requirements.
- Blocking may limit visibility and interactions between accounts as implemented in the app.
Third-party services and links
The Service uses third-party infrastructure (including Firebase and mobile platform services) and may open external pages (for example policy or support pages) in your browser. Those services have their own terms.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties such as merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Scout and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from your use of the Service.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the fullest extent still permitted.
Changes
We may update these Terms or the Privacy Policy. We will adjust the “Last updated” date when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires additional notice or consent.
